If you haven’t tried authentic Puerto Rican food, I highly suggest you do! I’m happy to announce that SCBD is working with LaLa’s Puerto Rican Kitchen, a food truck that will be located on Route 9 South (3854 Route 9 South) in Old Bridge, NJ and has an expected opening of October 1st 2013.
LaLa’s specializes in ‘cooking it up old school’ because ‘it’s gotta be perfect!’ Which it is, LaLa’s food is comfort food, ranging from arroz con pollo to specialty empanadas just like abuela would make. A few signature dishes you will want to try upon opening are:
- Arroz con Pollo served with red beans and sweet plantains
- Pernil (succulent roasted pork) served with arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) and refreshing napa, cabbage salad
- Rotisserie Chicken, marinated in citrus garlic served with yellow or white rice, black or red beans, and tostones (fried plantains with their signature mojito sauce or salsa verde)
If you aren’t hungry already, be sure to try their specialty empanadas. These are definitely not your average empanadas. I love that they each come with their own LaLa’s signature sauce. Here are just a few to start you off:
- · Beef
- · Chicken
- · Pulled Pork
- · Mac ‘n’ cheese
- · Chili
They also do tons of catering, so if you’re curious about what they serve, check it out, here. Stay tuned and get yourself ready as we will be continue to give you
the first look and updates on their opening in a few short months! Sign up for their newsletter for updates and make sure you follow them @lisalalaloca!
