The night will feature a number of contests & giveaways.  Guests are expected to come masquerading around as their favorite characters for a prize.  Enjoy drink specials from $4 Katch House Brews, Katch Pumpkin Brew, and Stella Artois, Figenza Vodka Cocktails, and Pimms Cups. The Beers and Pimms will also be available in Pitchers for $15 and  $4 bottles of Budweiser and Bud Light. Budweiser girls will be around the bar from 8-10PM handing out prizes.

BritneyHalloween-WEBFLYEROops!  Pounds & Ounces (160 8th Avenue at 18th Street) did it again!  This time with a B-tchin’ Halloween Bash.  There is no entry fee, but for $25 you get 2 cocktails AND a raffle ticket for the chance to win two tickets to Britney Spears new Las Vegas show, Britney: Piece of Me. There will also be a costume contest to win cash and other prizes and a portion of proceeds from the evening will benefit Unicef. Pounds & Ounces is the Chelsea hotspot known for their over-the-top parties, so this is just another occasion to celebrate Halloween on October 31st. Doors open at 9pm!

On Halloween night at DBGB Kitchen & Bar (299 Bowery, between Houston & 1st St.),  trick-or-treaters will be welcomed with chocolate dragées, and a complimentary pumpkin spice sundae if they stay for dinner.  Any adult dressed up for Halloween night will receive a complimentary Zombie Blood Cocktail (dark and white rum, lime juice, pineapple juice and grenadine—for that blood color) with any purchase of an entree.

The pumpkin spice sundae will also be available on the regular menu for $9 now through October 31. It’s composed of pumpkin ice cream, spiced marshmallow, pie crust, candied cranberry butterscotch and whipped cream.

On the night of Halloween, Thursday, October 31, Salvation Taco (145 East 39th Street (inside the Pod Hotel) will be hosting a Dia de Los Muertos/Halloween party in their lounge and on the rooftop. Mexican tiki cocktails will be featured along with traditional Dia de Los Muertos dishes like tamales, pan de muertos, atole and a candied pumpkin dish. These food specials will be available downstairs, in addition to the regular dinner menu. 

Looking for the party to continue after the 31st, look no further than The Royal’s “Better Late than Never”Halloween Bash!  (127 4th Avenue Manhattan, NY (between 12th and 13th Street) Join us on Saturday, November 2nd to extend the hair-raising good times.  Enjoy music by DJ Delro and make sure to come decked in your best costume as you could be the lucky winner of a cash prize!

  A great deal of what makes Halloween what it is is the creation of a spooky atmosphere and everything involved in a party can be converted from mundane to mysterious very easily. Cocktails are no different. No one every needs a holiday to enjoy their favorite cocktail, but specials do make them more fun. Are you brave enough to take a sip of this brightly colored brew? Here are some options, for those of you that are brave enough.

Pumpkin Martini

  • 1/2 oz. Cream Liquor
  • 2 oz. Vanilla Vodka
  • 1/2 oz. Pumpkin Spiced Syrup
  • Cinnamon stick and anice for garnish

Chef Richard Sandoval’s Blood Orange Habanero Margarita

Ingredients for the margarita:

  • 1 oz. 100% Agave Tequila Reposado
  • 1 oz. house sour mix
  • 1 oz. habanero-blood orange syrup (recipe below)
  • Wedge of lime for garnish

Mix all ingredients into a mixing glass, then add ice and shake vigorously. Garnish glass with a rim of store-bought mole negro sauce or ground chiles and a lime wedge.

Ingredients for the blood orange-habanero syrup:

  • 2 pints blood orange juice
  • 1 whole habanero pepper

Reduce at medium-high heat until thickened into a syrup
Remove habanero before combining with other cocktail ingredients

*Blood Orange Margarita is available all day and during Happy Hour

Cocktail made with Divine Chocolate’s Divine Cocoa powder

Divine Chocolate has partnered with Astor Center in New York to create some unique cocktails for the holidays.

 Allison Hamlin’s La Divine Calavera Catrina
  • 1 oz ginger perfumed egg white*
  • 1oz caramelized pineapple puree
  • ½ oz fresh orange juice
  • 2oz Mezcal
  • 3-4 dashes chocolate mole bitters
  • Top with ginger beer
  • Divine Cocoa powder
 Combine all ingredients except ginger beer in pint glass and dry shake (without ice) for one minute, or until visibly foamy and increased in volume. Add ice and shake again until well chilled. Pour over fresh ice into a highball glass rimmed with Divine Cocoa powder, and top with ginger beer.
*To perfume egg whites
Place whole eggs in an airtight container with a 2” piece of peeled ginger overnight. Separate and use normally.

Cocktail made with Piedra Azul Blanco


  • Ice
  • 1 ½ ounces Piedra Azul Blanco (100% Blue Agave)
  • 1 ounce Calmat
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Mexican Squirt or other Grapefruit Soda
  • Lemon wheel or wedge garnish

Fill a 10-ounce glass with ice. Scatter salt on the ice, then pour in the tequila, hot sauce, Clamato, and lemon juice. Top up the glass with grapefruit soda and stir gently. Garnish with lemon and serve immediately.

#SCBD Places to Celebrate Halloween in NJ & NYC!

Halloween is quickly approaching and there are tons of parties throughout New York & New Jersey starting this weekend. If I were you I’d grab your costume & an appetite for night of fun.

Here are some the hottest parties in Jersey:

Blue Moon Mexican Cafe (Englewood & Wyckoff locations) will be holding an Adult Halloween Costume Party on this Friday 10/26! It will be a night filled with live Bands, a costume contest and a Patron XO Dark Promo Party with fun giveaways.   First place winner of the costume contest will win a $200 BMMC gift card and $100 BMMC gift card for runner up.

Also, On Halloween, they have their annual family contest – all children who dine at the Blue Moon in costume are entered to win one of 3 prizes $100 to Toy Store, $50 to Toy Store or Dinner for 4 to BMMC.

Maxwell’s Bar in Tribeca is hosting their Halloween Party this Saturday, October 27th starting at 9PM. Cover is $10 at the door but proceeds go directly to the LGS foundation. They will have a Dj and drink specials throughout the evening– costumes are a must! Insiders note– they will also be serving a special Halloween menu on Halloween including a Blood Orange Margarita, The Spooky Spicy Bloody Mary, or The Killer Transfusion for $10.

Maxwell’s Halloween decor!

Love bakeries as much as I do? Then you are in for a treat Halloween night at Ivy Bakery in SoHo! Make sure you attend the Halloween ”Truck or Treat” EventCelebrate some of Divine’s darkest flavors at the “Truck or Treat” Food Pop Up Event during New York City’s Halloween Parade on October 31st. Presented by Ivy Bakery and Farm2Me, in conjunction with NYC Food Truck Association and Cheap Eats, the fun kicks-off at Ivy Bakery138 West Houston St (between MacDougal and Sullivan) at 5pm.

From 5-8 pm, Divine Chocolate’s Trick or Treat station at Ivy Bakery will feature wicked samples of our 70% Dark, 70% Dark with Raspberries and our Limited Edition bars, including Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Truffle and Dark Chocolate with Hazelnuts and Cranberries. They have samples for Milk Chocolate lovers, too!
