Located on 1637 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia is the best little Italian restaurant I have ever visited. Small Chick and I arrived and were greeted by very friendly staff and were welcomed right away to our seats. Upon sitting I noticed the charm and beauty you would expect to see in an authentic Italian restaurant. After taking our seats we were asked if we would like red or white wine which came complimentary for the evening. We were explained how the evening was going to go, including a five course meal and complimentary cordials at the end of the night! Excited we dove right in, and started with an amazing antipasto with chick peas, grilled peppers, and breaded veggies. It was a very interesting mix of flavors that we both really enjoyed!

Next we were brought out homemade lentil soup that really hit the spot for this chilly weather we have been having. After we had soup it was time for a pasta sampler! The three types of pasta were so delicious and the sauces were out of this world! Next it was time for our entree, Sara and I were lucky enough to be able to experience a real tour of Italy. We got to sample all of Mamma’s famous dishes including Eggplant, Veal in Mamma’s special sauce, chicken with roasted mushrooms, stuffed flounder with spinach and mozzarella, and snapper! My personal favorite was the veal, it was tender and Mamma’s sauce gave it a taste like I can’t describe. Sara and I also enjoyed the eggplant, it was the perfect mix of sauce, and cheese and the eggplant itself was very fresh! I would recommend any of the entrees as they were all unique and delicious in their own way.

After dinner it was time for dessert and not just any dessert but homemade cakes made my Mamma and staff! We had three slices to try and I think my favorite had to be the lemon creme cake. It reminded me of summer and I can honestly say I would drive into Philly just to try it again! The amaretto cake was also amazing if you like almonds and chocolate it really hits the spot.

The complimentary cordials were the icing on a perfect evening. We were brought out bottles of homemade limoncello, strawberry limoncello, creme lemon cello, Disaronno, Sambuca and of course more wine. At this point we were in heaven! We also got a flaming Sambuca shot with coffee beans. Ironically enough while we were finishing our dessert and drinks a group of friends came in stating they came all the way from NYC just to visit Mamma’s! If that doesn’t show how amazing this restaurant it I don’t know what does! We had a perfect evening, it has everything you’d want in a perfect night out! The staff makes you feel at home, we spent hours there and when we left we felt like we were saying goodbye to family. I highly recommend you stop by and visit Mamma, tell her Small Chick, Big Deals sent you! You will be glad you did!
